We have partnered with Nautical School to offer the following Captains Course dates!!!

OUPV courses are just 2 weekends and 5 weeknights in between. Nine classes total. You MUST attend all 9 classes!

Spring Classes: April 26th - May 4th, 2025

Fall Classes: TBD

Saturday/Sunday: 8am-6pm

Monday-Friday: 6pm-10pm

Price of the class is $799 per person.

Earn an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV-6Pack) Captain's License that allows you to take up to six passengers on vessels up to 100GRT/100 Miles offshore. Please note that Non U.S. Citizens may be restricted to undocumented vessels with a 5 net ton limit.

Classroom Training Includes:

-Rules of the Road: International and Inland

- Navigation General: Near Coastal

- Chart Navigation

- Dock General/Safety

We provide the following on the first day of class:

- The coveted Nautical School textbook

- Three full-size training charts of the Long Island Sound, Block Island Sound, and Chesapeake Bay

- A student packet full of information and resources

A proctored OUPV- 6pack final examination is given at the end of the course. The Nautical School will also help you fill out your USCG Application Packet.

There are NO Pre-Requisite's to take our course! In fact, many students take the OUPV-6Pack course for the valuable knowledge and insights.

*Cancellation Policy*

The price of the class is non-refundable. We require a 3 days cancellation notice. Students may reschedule their sessions for free if the request is made at least 3 days in advance. Cancellations after the 3 days notice or no-shows will result in no refund. Any student arriving late to a class will result in forfeiture and rescheduling required at the discretion of the instructor.

Example: Class Saturday at 9am. You will have until Wednesday at 9am to reschedule.

ONLINE: Master 25/50/100T Upgrade
A Master license will expand the scope of your authority as Captain from 6-pack level to a Master up to 100 gross tons on “inspected” vessels, carrying more than 6 passengers for hire.

This is an ADD-ON to the 9-day OUPV (6-pack) in-person course. If you have not already completed your OUPV class you should register for that first, as it is the first part to earning your Master license. After you have successfully completed both courses, you can either continue and take the 4-hour Commercial Assistance Towing and/or Auxiliary Sail (for sailors) or just apply for your Master 25, 50, or 100 GRT license.

As with all online courses, the final 20-question exam must be proctored and will be held at a Nautical School facility, which we will assist in scheduling for you after completion of the course.

NOTE: The sea service requirements for a Master License upgrade is similar to what would be needed for the OUPV license. You will need 360 days of sea time for an Inland Master or 720 days - showing at least 360 days on Near Coastal Waters - for a Near Coastal Endorsement. The tonnage you will receive will depend on the size boat you are claiming time on but at the very least everyone with 360 minimally is eligible for a 25 GRT that can be upgraded later on. Assistance Towing
Any USCG “6-Pack” or Master licensed Captain who wishes to assist disabled boats for a fee or work for a towing company, must have a Commercial Assistance Towing Endorsement added to their license.

As with all online courses, the final 20-question exam must be proctored and will be held at a Nautical School facility, which we will assist in scheduling for you after completion of the course.

This 4-hour course enables the mariner to tow recreational vessels commercially. The endorsement allows the holder to engage in “Commercial Assistance Towing” for payment and is the one that all license captains working for Sea Tow and TowBoat U.S. must have.
This USCG-approved online course will cover all the required topics needed to add the coveted Assistance Towing Endorsement to your license. At completion of the course and proctored exam, you will be issued a certificate of completion for submission to the Coast Guard. No additional experience is required for this endorsement. The course is informative and as with all our courses, will fully prepare you for the proctored 20-question exam.

Auxiliary Sailing
All Master Captains seeking to operate an Inspected Sailboat (carrying more than 6 passengers) must hold a sailing endorsement. The Nautical School offers the course “online” in conjunction with Explorers Guide Maritime Academy.

As with all online courses, the final 20-question exam must be proctored and will be held at a Nautical School facility, which we will assist in scheduling for you after completion of the course.

This 4-hour online course fulfills the USCG requirements for an Auxiliary Sail Endorsement on a
Masters license. All sailboat Captains holding a Masters license must also hold an Auxiliary Sail Endorsement (sailboat with engine). The student workbook is downloaded from the course.

Master 100 to 200T Upgrade
With this Master license, the scope of your authority as Captain increases from a 100-ton level to a Master up to 200 gross tons on “inspected” vessels. This online Master course is an add-on to the 100 GRT course. After you have successfully completed the course, you can either continue and take the 4-hour Commercial Assistance Towing and/or Auxiliary Sail (for sailors) or just apply for your Master 200 GRT license.

As with all online courses, the final 50-question exam must be proctored and will be held at a Nautical School facility, which we will assist in scheduling for you after completion of the course.

Successful completion of this course will satisfy the examination requirements for upgrade of a merchant mariner endorsement from Master not more than 100 gross registered tons (on self-propelled vessels of less than 100 gross registered tons) Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters to Master of self-propelled vessels of less than 200 gross tons Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters. The course completion certificate issued upon successful completions of this course is valid for one application which results in the issuance of an endorsement(s) and may not be used for future application transactions.

NOTE: The sea service requirements for a Master 200 GRT License upgrade is: 200 GRT - 180 days (25%) required on vessels of 101 GRT or above, OR 360 days (50%) required on vessels of 67 GRT or above.

You are required to have a valid Adult CPR certification and basic first aid course completed within the past 12 months when you submit your application. This course meets those requirements.
